Multi-Parameters Approach to Assessment of Soil Liquefaction Vulnerability in Wetland Areas of Lagos, Southwestern, Nigeria
This study investigates the liquefaction potential of coastal sands in Lagos using geotechnical and geophysical methods. The aim is to understand failures in engineering structures near coastal areas. Measurements at three sites characterized geological units. Results showed shear wave velocities from 160 to 470 m/s, with liquefiable sands at depths of 2.5 to 18.0 m.
Porosity prediction using 3D seismic genetic inversion at F3 Block, offshore Netherlands
This study uses seismic and well data with a genetic inversion workflow and supervised neural network to predict porosity distribution in the F3 block offshore Netherlands. Petrophysical parameters were estimated for four identified reservoirs across four wells, with acoustic impedance varying from 2000 to 6000 kPa.s/m and porosity from 0.25 to 0.40.
Developing an Integrated Approach for Shear Wave Velocity Estimation in Gas-Saturated Reservoirs
This study addresses the inadequacy of Castagna’s equation in estimating S-wave velocity in gas-saturated reservoirs, using the Joshzoic Field in the Niger Delta as a case study. By integrating Fluid Replacement Modeling (FRM) with water saturation (Sw) values from gas-bearing reservoirs, the S-wave velocity for gas sand was re-evaluated. Wireline log signatures and rock physics crossplots were used to identify and characterize gas-bearing reservoirs.
An integrated approach to volume of shale analysis: Niger Delta example, Orire Field
This research presents an integrated approach for estimating the volume of shale in the Orire field of the Niger Delta using multiple logging methods. It addresses challenges in accurately estimating shale volume, particularly in the presence of radioactive sand or gas. By integrating gamma ray, neutron-density, and resistivity data, the study achieves a more precise estimation of shale volume, aiding in reservoir quality assessment and depositional environment inference.
